Sharrows make and appearance in Clintonville

Just under 200 sharrows will be added to High Street as part of the 10 million dollar commitment the City of Columbus has allotted to cycling projects in 2010. I spotted one of the first of these markings in Clintonville this morning. This photo was taken at Weber and High.
The markings continued north to Hudson.

It will be interesting to see if the sharrows work. I use High Street a lot and so far It’s been a mixed bag. I’ve had some people give me more leeway, while others seem to ignore the sharrows and I still get “shaved”.
Saw one southbound off of Vine and High. Even without them drivers switch to the left-hand lane to pass since I’m taking up the right one. Hasn’t failed me yet.
Rode on the sharrows towards Downtown just south of the Short North and they were perfectly centered in the middle of the lane. The city did a great job here, and they’re better placed than the first one. I was kinda worried after that.
Thanks Columbusite, glad to hear the City of Columbus looking beyond “minimum” placement.
