Wow!  Sounds like from the newspaper story that this was an out-of-control deputy.  Glad that the cyclist won, although that deputy continues to work for Lawrence County.  I hope that the Sheriff got the message.  You might try contacting Steve Magas, although the terms of the settlement might prohibit him commenting on the incident or settlement.

oh yes, thanks bikelawyer! and congrats maybe we can get a post here and let us know whats going on with this? how are the police responding?

It sounds like another sheriff refuses to accept the 2006 reforms as valid Ohio Law.  I think the time has come to produce an ” O.R.C. 4511.55 Section C for Dummies” and send it to every law enforcement officer in Ohio….

Sounds like a brilliant idea to me, I know there are a lot of laws “on the books” and its difficult to remember them all, but if a law enforcement officer doesnt know the law they should at least take the time to look it up before writing a ticket…i guess that goes without saying though. Seems as though there is room in the trunk of a police car for the O.R.C. book, its big, but its not that big, and its not too much to ask for the people “enforcing” the law to actually know the law. And, NKY, I love the work you are doing on alum creek, I spend a lot of time riding to various places from Bexley and I use alum creek regularly. Heading over to the T&PC post to see what youve been up to over there, if there is a name and phone number for who to call about alum creek, ill get on it too…………cheers

The service request number is 1006035530 – call 614 645 3111 and give that service number, and tell them this is a safety issue, do not wait for 2 years for ODOT to put the Bikes May Use Full Lanes in their manual, just put the sign up on an experimental contigency. Safety before red tape!

Perhaps also ask them why when te sign is ready to be donated, they just don’t accept it and put it up.  It takes up most of my back seat in my box!

On the phone with them again now…The guy that answered started chuckling after i gave him the req number, and gave me a different number to call 645-7880 for Mark Wilburn? I got his voice mail when i called it. Ill keep trying.
