I thought it would be interesting to have a thread where commuters might post the results of their daily commute.

OK I’l start. My commute begins at 4:30am. 8mi. one way. This morning wasn’t bad, nice and cool. 54d. I’ve been commuting for about 5mos. now and saw another commuter for the first time coming the opposite way. I gave him a hearty "How’s it goin", no response. Oh well. On the way home I took the Olen.Bikepath north from 161 to Whitney Rd. exit thru Worthington Estates. When you get off here there is a nice climb up to High St. Not too bad. Made my way to Shrock Rd and on to home. I figure I might as well enjoy the weather while it lasts.

Mine is about three miles from 95 E 1st Ave in Italian Village to near the intersection of Kinnear and Kenny Roads. I take 1st to High St which takes 30 seconds. I make a right on High and go north to King Ave. This took maybe four minutes since I never stopped at any lights. I made a left onto King ave. and rode the down hill all the way to Olentangy River Rd. where I stopped at the light thers for am minute or two. I continued on King westbound and made a right onto Necco St. left onto Chambers Rd. and a right onto Kenny. All in all 13 minutes maybe with barely an stopping. I like that. It was cool out at 8:45 a.m. The traffic was heavy around the OSU hospital and Olentangy like usual. Saw a handful of other bikers too.

It was warmer than the end of last week, i ride from powell to campus everyday, 15 or so miles depending on which way i take as i change it up daily thanks to ADD induced boredom. I wish the cold weather would start so there would be less traffic on the bikepath, i could get to school faster and less idiot yuppies makes me happy.

Morning ride in was nice and cool. Afternoon ride home nice and wet. Just a wet drizzle. I think I over-dressed. With rain jacket/rain pants/ shoe covers and a really thin balaclava I picked up at Sierra Trading Post for $5. I stopped in Dwntwn Worthington and took off the pants and balaclava seeing as how the rain reduced to a very light sprinkle. Broke out my radio that I attach to my bike and listened to that the rest of the way home.

where is sierra trading post? i could use a light belaclava, mine is too warm to wear right now? my ride was good this morning, and yes nice and wet on the way up high street at about 2oclock…i relly like riding in the rain as long as its not too cold, today was perfect. well the time i spent on my bike was perfect, the rest was shit.

Good day to ride today. Nice and cool. Tom’rw will be a different story. Big ol’ nasty storm heading our way. Keep the raingear close by.

I have been slacking on commuting and walk a little more now. Something about the cold weather that makes me enjoy walking more. Hopefully this will pass and I will commute on my bike more often. My usual commute is clintonville to 15th which is a pretty enjoyable commute once you get past the busted streets of olentangy to hudson.

Don’t know what happened to the big storm predicted for today. We lucked out. I don’t think I’ll be so lucky tom’rw. Weather channel says storms in the middle of the night. Hopefully things will be calm at 4:30am commute.
