Can anyone find the City of Columbus Code that requires signs to be
in the Ohio MUTCD, rather than just accepting the Federal MUTCD? -

Is it just me,
or is Trisha the only one
on the bike committee that is trying to move forward? The putting
aside of ”safety first” and allowing red tape to stand in the way
of Bikes May Use Full Lane” signs is beyond reason! -

They don’t tell me to ride on the sidewalk down there, because they don’t exist. They just yell “get the f*(k off the road” as they swerve at me, forcing me into the shoulder with th broken 40 ouncers and road kill…..I donated the sign. Please call 614 645 3111 and beg them to put it up [...]

How does this sound?
To the Mayor of the future “Bike Friendly” “Bike City, U.S.A.”:
It is not possible to have a bike friendly city without a “Bikes May Use Full Lane” sign.
I hereby present this sign for use on Alum Creek Drive.
I am postitive you do not approve of law abiding cyclists being ticketed,
nor do you approve [...] -

Did the trucks brakes fail, and did the driver try to swerve to miss the cyclist? Thoughts a prayers for all that were hurt by this tragedy…..Would a presidential motorcade have had better protection? I think sometimes tragic things happen no matter what precautions are taken.

I think the next meeting is on Weds. August 26th at 5pm at the place on Front St. I think the best way to educate the public is to have the city put up “Bikes May Use Full Lane” signs. Then motorists might understand bikes belong on the road….l

Mike T and I biked Alum Creek Drive to the spot where Tracey Corbin was killed,. Mike now knows what it is like to be buzzed by a purple car with idiots yelling “get the f^(k off te road”. No, I did not get the plate number, as it was passing too quickly… I cannot remember biking [...]

Great ride. Tracey Corbin was remembered, and we were not ticketed by any of the several Sheriffs we saw. We were not mugged on the trail part either! Only two nasty things on Alum Creek Drive. A purple car passed us yelling “get the f^(k off the road”. I would not think I was on Alum [...]

Two years ago, almost to the day- 8/21/2008 Tracey Corbin was killed on Alum Creek Drive biking to work. Not much has channged since he was killed. When he was killed, I asked for bike lanes, street lights, and sidewalks for pedestrians. Two years have passed, and the only differnce now is that the deputies ticket [...]

There is no real altternate route between Livingston and Watkins. The tril is beautiful, but it goes miles out of the way, and now you have outlaws to contend with. Alum Creek Drive is not a “bike friendly” road at all. After Tracey Corbin was killed, I asked for bike lanes or a shared use path [...]

Speed limit on Alum Creek Drive ranges from 40 to 45 mph. I have been tailgated and passed by angry motorists there when I was in my car going 50mph…

Tickert was for failure to ride as far right as possible…..Lane was 133″ wide, I am about 34″ wide on bike, and COTA bus behind us was 102″ wide, so do the math. I come up with -3″ to share with bus. Deputy either was depth perception challenged and thought we could travel safely side by [...]

I was northbound on Alum Creek Dr between Refugee and Winslow. I was taking the lane, as I don’t ike to try to share the lane with COTA buses and Old Dominiom semi’s…It was a $97 ticket. I have a 311 request in with the city for “Bikes May Use Full Lane” sign for Alum Creek [...]

What, if I take the road I have to face a gauntlet of sheriff’s deputies that do not accept the law, and if I take the trail, I might get mugged?

City tells me groundbreaking for the shared use path you speak of is at least two years away and continient upon funding available in the future. ODOT tells me it will be about two years before their MUCTD update is complete. That leaves me with having to dodge the sheriff and motorists for two more years. COTA [...]

Danc-my name is not Gabe-I already know where and how to ride. I just need local law enforcement and motorists to recognize my rights. If I ride to the right I get squeezed off road. If I take the lane the sheriff tickets me. I need the local law enforcemnt to recognize ORC 4511.55 Section C [...]

Not bad, sharrows and share the road are wrong for Alum Creek Drive. Sidewalks and bikelanes are the right hing, but futuristic dream. A shared use path in 2 long years some may not live to see is the more likely plan.

They should not be on roads where the speed limits above 35 MPH
Speed limit on Alum Creek Drive is 45, then slows to 40, so sharrows are not something the city will try there anyways?
