Paint is all done. 7/7/10…. notice my little tribute to Alaska. Why is that ? Because Alaska is home to the toughest bike riders in the world.

Wednesday, july 7, 2010. This morning was 73f. Lately I’ve been seeing a bike commuter going east on 161 at 4:15am at 161 and High. Whoever it is. I hope they keep it up come fall/winter. It’s nice to see other people out there giving it a shot. The aftn has been very hot. 93f. I [...]

I’ve got my eye on a Surly 1×1. They look to me, to be the perfect winter bike. They handle tires up to 3 inches wide. -

“ I should check this board more often probably.”
Anything and everything about commuting in Columbus you’ll find here on this forum.
My commute this morning was uneventful also, except for the 75 degree temp this morning which felt real nice, and the pitch darkness that I ride in every morning that makes for a peaceful ride. This was the second [...]

I went up to the Home Depot and bought some spray paint and re-did the frame on the bike. I painted the rack to match the frame. Check out the new Tektro brakes I had installed. What do you think ?

That is a good, fast, low-traffic route to go I’ve done it several times. Exactly as you described it. I grew up in that area and I know it like the back of my hand. To get from the OBP to the Alum Creek bike path. That’s probably the best and easiest way. Starting at the [...]

Wednesday, June 16, 2010. I was at Cleveland and Community Park Dr. up by 270 around 4am and as I was turning left on Cleveland Ave to go to Home Acre Rd. I saw someone riding a bike against traffic going south. No lights, dark clothing. By the time I realized what was going on, he [...]

Tuesday, June 15, 2010. I lucked out and missed the thunderstorm that rolled thru overnite. Looks like I may miss the one tonight too. Today turned into a nice day. 86f and very humid. But it still felt nice to ride in.

Saturday, June 12, 2010. Hey, I ride thru that intersection everyday, usually around 2:15 or so. Only I’m climbing up the hill instead of flying down it like an idiot. You ride westbound on New England at Oxford. That means you’re going down a steep downhill. And to blow thru those intersections like that is just [...]

I wasn’t saying anything at all about a “crappy” paint job. You see LHT’s in green or brown. And if I had one. I’d want it in a different color.

A Surly outfitted with Arkels. Doesn’t get any better than that….unless it’s a Co-motion. Nice looking ride. What racks do you have ? If that were mine. I’d give it a custom paint job and never take my eye off of it.

Had a great commute in this morning. A nice cool 66f. I had my work clothes on with a safety green sleeveless vest. After that death on Sawmill Rd. I’m making sure the cars see me in the morning. I’m paying extra careful to the ones who come up behind me with the mirror I use. [...]

I was out riding around today thinking about that young guy dying. And I came up with a way to recognize that death by wearing a black armband as I rode around from Westerville to Linworth and back. I stopped at a UDF and bought a roll of electricians tape and made a armband out of [...]

I also was saddened to hear this news. I was hoping over the weekend that He’d pull through. But God had other plans for him. My thoughts and sympathies go to his family. I learned thru the comment section on 10tv that someone has opened an account at Huntington Bank for donations. His mom, I understand, [...]

To bad the rain has to spoil the first half of Bike to Work Week. I hope it hasn’t kept anyone who planned on riding this week from goin’ out and doin’ it. After all, weather is a big part of it. You find yourself the right combination of clothing and it makes that commute all [...]

Batman. After reading your post. Why can’t you put the heavier frame on the bottom. What difference does it make if your improvising anyway. As far as your chain problem. If you know how to use a chain tool. Then you shouldn’t have any problem joining two or more chains together. Speaking of which. Maybe a [...]

That was a good idea. Starting in Chili-town and riding to Portsmouth. I never thought of that. I’d always ridden from Cols. to Circleville and back. Starting from Westerville it ended up being about 97 miles. Thats enough for me. I heard about the detour this year. They were going to go down Rt. 772 to Denver [...]

April 22, 2010. This is a transitional time of year. In the mornings its like 45f and I still have to wear my lightweight cold weather gear. In the aftn I’m in shorts and a short-sleeve shirt with the sandals/socks. Jym Ganahl said last night that he was expecting temps in the 90’s come May. We’ll have [...]

Hey let’s keep track of those miles. No competition or anything like that. Just curious to see what we all do thru-out the year. Just copy-and-paste the preceding list. And add your running total in the order that it falls in.
