An urban commuter cyclist, Meredith rides as an expression of her personal value system, as a way to help make her community more peaceful and connected. Meredith is the Executive Director and founder of Yay Bikes!, starting the organization in 2009 after having extensively researched bicycle mobility and mode shift in her City & Regional Planning program; she graduated with her Master’s degree from OSU in 2009. While enrolled in graduate school, Meredith launched both Bike OSU, the student organization for campus-area cyclists, and Consider Biking, a local bicycle advocacy organization. Meredith is a League Cycling Instructor with the League of American Bicyclists and created the How We Roll campaign in 2011 to help OSU cyclists ride city streets safely and legally. That same year, she was honored as a Visionary Leader by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Young Professional’s Club, winning their People’s Choice Award out of the field of six visionary honorees, and as the #4 Best Civic Leader in Columbus by ColumbusUnderground readers. Meredith currently serves on the OSU Bikeways Advisory Committee and the Columbus Share the Road Committee, and often speaks at events such as Cause Collaborative, the Ohio Transportation Engineer’s Conference, Columbus Green Drinks, etc.
