Traffic Skills 101 is a 2-day, 10-hour course that features classroom sessions, maneuverability drills and on-road riding:
- Classroom Sessions—A presentation and discussion format that covers essential topics including Ohio traffic law, proper lane positioning, bicycle types and parts, proper bike fit, route selection, basic maintenance, etc.
- Maneuverability Drills—A series of parking lot drills that provide practice in basic bicycle handling, from scanning behind while keeping a straight line to hazard and crash avoidance techniques
- On-Road Riding—An educational ride that gets people encountering the real-life situations they will face on the roads
This course covers everything you need to get road-ready, and is the prerequisite for becoming a League Cycling Instructor or How We Roll tour leader. Traffic Skills 101 is approved for the
City of Columbus Traffic Diversion Program and can be taught over 14 weeks as a for-credit college class.
