Bikes for All People (B4AP, established in September, 2014) is a community bicycle shop located on the south side of Columbus. It is owned and operated by Church and Community Development for All People (CD4AP). We are committed to providing affordable, reliable and predictable services and support to all bicyclists in our neighborhood and beyond.
The Bikes for All People Bike Shop – Executive Director Woody Patrick and staff operate a full-service bicycle shop that provides sales, service and accessories at affordable prices. While we do sell a selection of new bikes, most of our bikes are donated, refurbished used bikes. We do our best to keep prices as low as possible. Our parts and accessories inventory will meet the needs of many types of cyclists including casual riders, commuters, distance riders, and everyone in-between.
Youth Outreach - For our youngest riders, we have a selection of used bicycles that are available free to any child who comes in with a parent or legal guardian. For older youth, we offer programs in the summer during which participants choose a bike, learn to repair and maintain it, and then keep the bike at the end of the program. Each year, we collect donations to purchase approximately 75 new kids’ bikes to provide to the CD4AP Christmas shop. As of January 2021, we have distributed 1,500 children’s bicycles and 1,600 helmets free to children and youth in our community.
Group Rides - Most every Thursday from May through September, we lead group rides to various destinations around Columbus. We meet at 7:00 p.m. at the shop. Rides are no-drop rides of 7 to 10 miles. Most weeks, our ride leader will take us to an interesting spot on the South Side, Downtown, or another nearby neighborhood. We encourage beginning riders to join us. Helmets are required.
Repair Classes - Watch for information about free repair and maintenance classes which were suspended during 2020.
COVID-19 Impact – As an essential service, B4AP has remained open throughout the pandemic restrictions. We require customers to avoid the shop if they are experiencing flu symptoms, to wear a mask and we limit to 2 customers at a time. We are planning to start up the Thursday slow rolls this spring so watch for news on our Facebook page and website.
